Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his first trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial title after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early-game opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
